There is a scam-letter my neighbour received today. She’s lucky – she has a daughter who has the sense to realise it is a scam.

It may be that the electoral register has been used to discover my neighbours name as she has a very distinctive first name which she never uses (except on the electoral register) but the scammers did.

These people don’t ask for money, just that you call them and tell them your bank details so that they can send a bank-to-bank transfer. No money arrives and so the putative prize-winner calls again and is eventually persuaded to give more and more bank details and so on to the inevitable climax.
