Crunch on Forest Quarry. “We now need your support more than ever – it’s crunch time! This application is (at last!) coming to the GCC planning committee on Thursday 9 July, by way of a virtual meeting. The Parish Council has just contacted the Secretary of State with a request to have this application ‘called-in’ for determination by an independent planning inspector. On receipt by the Sec of State of our request, GCC will be advised that an application to call-in has been received. In practice what this means is that the GCC meeting goes ahead and if the committee votes to REFUSE then the call-in is not required. If the committee votes to APPROVE the application, GCC will be instructed NOT to issue the permission notice until the Sec of State has decided whether to accept the call-in. If he does not accept it, GCC will be advised that they may issue the permission. If the request is accepted, GCC will be advised that the application is out of their hands and will be decided by the Sec of State. It is absolutely crucial to the success of our fight that as many requests as possible to call-in the application are received; thus we are asking for your support in sending your own letter. A template letter is attached for your use, or you may care to use it as the basis of your own letter. We also attach our full, detailed request which you can refer to for some background information. It is vital that as many people as possible request the call-in, so please forward this email and request to as many friends, neighbours and relations as you can. Because of the Covid-19 lockdown all staff at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government are working from home so the letter MUST be emailed to pcu@communities.gov.uk You MUST use the same headings as in the template letter and if an individual you MUST provide your full name, address. Businesses, please paste the text of our template letter into your headed notepaper. Once you have sent your letter please let us know by sending an email to newland.glos.pc@gmail.com with “CALL IN LETTER SENT” as the subject, no message required. Take a look at the video we made, this has been sent to every member of the planning committee: https://youtu.be/Q5iF9u_KyVA and is now on our Facebook page. Thank you so much for your continued support – we can win this! SUMMARY: 1. COMPLETE THE TEMPLATE LETTER OR WRITE YOUR OWN 2. EMAIL IT CPU@COMMUNITIES.GOV.UK 3. EMAIL NEWLAND.GLOS.PC@GMAIL.COM TO CONFIRM YOU HAVE SENT YOUR LETTER 4. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ALL YOUR CONTACTS AND ASK THEM TO SEND THEIR OWN LETTER 5. LOOK AT OUR 4 MINUTE VIDEO 6. ACCEPT OUR THANKS FOR YOUR HELP 7. KEEP EVERYTHING CROSSED!
