Community Transport is for Everyone!!


Forest Routes is a Lottery funded community transport partnership in the Forest of Dean http://forestroutes.org/

We are working together to raise awareness of the four community transport providers, to promote their services and to recruit new volunteers to work with them. Contact 01594 812613

If you are interested in volunteering there are many roles available; volunteer car drivers with Lydney Dial A Ride and Bream Voluntary Car Service willing to transport local people from their home to their appointments. Mileage is paid from the point of the driver’s home. You will need a driving licence, your own car or access to a car. You will receive training and complete a DBS disclosure with the organisation. Other roles include trustee, fundraising, charity shop assistants for Cinderford or Lydney.

Lydney Dial-A-Ride have accessible mini buses to transport people door-to-door,  volunteer car drivers and two charity shops. Minibuses can be available with a driver on evenings and weekends for other charitable organisations, clubs, societies, voluntary and community groups, schools and colleges. Lydcare have a voluntary car service and advocacy. The voluntary drivers are available to take you to and from your appointment whether hospital, doctor, dentist or social. They cover the Forest and surrounding area and travel as far as Bristol and Birmingham hospitals and are happy to wait until you are ready to travel back home, at no extra cost. A standard mileage charge applies. Advocacy service: Having difficulty dealing with forms? Are you getting the right benefits? This service is provided free of charge in the comfort of your own home. If you have difficulty getting out and about and want to get to the lunch clubs, transport can be arranged. For all enquiries please phone 01594 860143.

Bream Voluntary Car Service provide a personal service for anyone requiring transport to medically related appointments. Drivers provide a door-to-door service ensuring you are booked in for your appointment and wait until you are ready to return home. Telephone 01594 560257
