Thurs April 27th Quartette Lunoire
Acclaimed musician John Hymas brings his brand new ensemble, Quartette Lunoire to the Forest of Dean.
John describes the show as a theatrical experience as much as a classical concert. The quartet combine set design and lighting to create a magical environment to accompany their music.
John encourages the audience to imagine the scenario, “It’s the middle of the night. You are walking alone in a dense forest; the quiet rustle of leaves, the snap of small twigs beneath your feet and the odd hoot or screech of an owl accompany your dreamlike progress. Ahead you see a pale glimmer of light and after a while you can hear the strains of enchanting music wafting through the forest.
This is the world of the Quartette Lunoire”.
In this, their first season, the concert will feature two works; Neck of the Woods, a new piece by composer/violinist John Hymas, written specially for the ensemble and John’s arrangement of Kurt Weill’s Little Threepenny Music.
The Quartette Lunoire musicians are Marie McNally, clarinet, John Hymas, violin and accordion, Joanne Jefferis, cello and Deborah Anderson, double bass.
